Royal Bison Craft & Art Fair

If you have plans this weekend, break ‘em. It’s Royal Bison time.

Tomorrow, November 26 & Sunday November 27 the Royal Bison Craft & Art Fair is back for it’s eleventh installment. This only happens twice a year, and if you’ve been before you know that the winter edition is the best (with the spring one a very close second)   Art, photography, books, clothing, jewelry, on and on. So much really great stuff. All handmade by Edmontonians.  And cinder+smoke will be there too. Here’s a peak at some of the pieces that will be be available this weekend.

It’s that time of year again

Hey everyone,

It’s that time of year again.  Yup, craft season time! I’ll be at Make It is weekend,(well actually, it starts tomorrow night at 4pm), runs until Sunday.  The Make It website has all the info you need.  There is a Groupon deal for admission  or you can print off the coupon I’ve posted at the bottom of this post (scroll all the way down) and get $2 off the $5 admission charge (kids under 12 are free) .

I’ll also be at The Royal Bison Craft & Art Fair  November 26&27 , but I’ll post more in the coming week about that one. Make sure you mark your calendars, though!

where did the summer go?

This Saturday, Sept. 24 will be last chance shopping at the Edmonton Downtown Farmers’ Market. Yowsers! has the summer ever flown by.  The  farmers’ market still continues on till Thanksgiving, though. Just without cinder+smoke.

In celebration of the final Saturday for 2011, everything will be on sale! Buy One, Get One Half Off EVERYTHING including all new fall clothing. And big discounts on top of that. Additional 20% – 60% off summer clothing. Everything has gotta go! 9am-3pm Downtown City Market. Hope to see you there!

Youth Emergency Shelter Fundraiser

Hello all, exciting news! Tomorrow at the Downtown Farmers’ Market,  5% of your purchase total with cinder+smoke will be donated to a project to supply the Youth Emergency Shelter in the Armoury Building with a full music room!

This project was started by two local musicians, Dallas and James, about 1 year ago and they are super close to reaching their goal and getting the project on it’s feet. Here’s a little more info about it all -

Doinʼ It For the Kids!

Located at 10310 – 85th Ave, the Armoury is a safe place where at-risk and homeless youth have access to daytime support and resources from 9am to 9pm, seven days a week.

The youth centre is staffed by skilled and trained youth workers. A safe daytime alternative that facilitates access to various resources such as health care & info, resume building and countless other services that can make a life-saving difference. Providing necessary services to these young people can reduce the incidence of criminal activity and prevent youth from becoming entrenched in street life on the streets.

Services are offered free of charge and youths can get a full range of needs met as well as help working towards self reliance.

Tomorrow with the help of cinder+smoke, all donations will go towards the purchase of musical equipment for the Armoury Youth Centre in Strathcona. Working together with local independent musicians, the Armoury plans to provide youth with a place to play as well as instructional programming and songwriting help.

As a result of fundraising efforts, we have already amassed a setup including two guitars, bass, amplifiers, drums and microphones. Currently, we are just $300 away from being able to complete the setup with a new PA. Once purchased, we can begin putting work with the Armoury on putting together musical programming.

The kids appreciate it and we thank you for your support!
